Vrai(s)emblable(s) is part of a line of work which is that of the constant and evolving search for forms of languages in our society whose origins are drawn from reality: "Vraisemblables was born from a lived experience, between me and my friend where we were systematically confused by people around us which created reversals of situations.

 

They are two full-length portraits, designed as a diptych, one of myself and the other of a friend, of a similar size of 1 m 72 by 80 cm.  We take pictures of each other with an automatic camera in the same attitude, standing and in the same public place: a train station. The two images are given to see dissociated in two distinct spaces.

 

"Actualization"

I use the portrait to translate a lived fact which concerns my physical identity and that of another person and the diptych by the fact that we are associated in our own identities. The portrait has a characteristic linked to the translation of self-knowledge: They are not self-portraits since each of us takes a picture of the other; register "a double game" of the photographic take/pause to create a double reading, the photos that we take on vacation where we take a break and we are photographed with our pocket camera in front of the statues or the monuments of the country that one visits and leave with a memory of oneself, a type of image linked to amateur photography which is only part of a relationship of intimacy of the photographic act and its future . in contrast, I choose the train station as a photographic background which is a public place for the individual to move from one territory to another but also for wandering, a transitory place where the notion of identity takes on its full value.

Vrai(s)emblable(s) is a diptych whose two parts are distant in space. The physical distance between the images questions the spectator on the reading of two photographs associated in their conception and dissociated in the form of presentation. The dichotomous experimental device direct and indirect gaze of the work, questions its relationship to space-time, to memory.

The title "True (s)emblable (s) can be assimilated if it has been read and not said: I divide a word in two, by locating a letter which is the letter of the plurality. It is also a game on / with/of word, the establishment of a process contained in the title; a process whose initial reading changes when it is divided and creates the possibility of seeing several definitions in it. A likelihood of "true similars". of the real on the mode of displacement with its own characteristics of evolutions to perceive other possibilities of reading there.
